All teachers deal with stress now and then.  The real problem is that often times we don’t “DEAL” with it.  We live it, we ignore it and move on; this is so unhealthy.  This class will help you understand where your stress is coming from, and show you 101 different ways to deal with it.  This class is beneficial to teachers, counselors, social workers, administrators and support staff.

Students enter school with years of experience in pushing buttons, and attempting to control the adults in their lives with aggressive, even toxic language.  Three are many formats available to help individuals avoid verbal conflict with their fellow human beings.  We are going to start, but not end, with what I call the Four Corners.  It’s called the Four Corners because it is the “foundation” from which we will build our fortress of protection against verbal assault and mental attacks.

DEVELOPING DISCIPLINE IN THOSE TWEENS

Date:  Tuesday, November 16, 2010     Time:  4:15-7:15 PM                      Class Size:  Min. 8; Max. 15

Instructor:  Jon Gatto                            Credit:  3 clock hours                  Location:  Teacher Center

The Middle School years are a time of magical blossoming, but like huge transitions in our kids’ lives, they’re filled with ups and downs.  As with toddlers, teachers who don’t accept, and constructively negotiate their student’s blossoming independence invite:  Rebellion, Defiance, Deception, and in the worst of incidences…..Anarchy.  This class will provide some tools to help your students help themselves.
